Obituary of Patricia Smith

The Life Story P ATRICIA SMITH (LEDBETTER), was born to the late Bishop Elijah Ledbetter and the late Ella Belle Ledbetter (Weathers), on November 19, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended the Philadelphia public school system. Later, Patricia attended nursing school and worked as a nurse at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, as well as, a Home Health Aide. She married, Edward Smith and from this union three children were born, Troy Smith, SGT. Edward Smith, II and Shaneen Smith. She was a loving wife and a loving mother, devoted to her family. At an early age, Patricia under the leadership of her father, the late Bishop Elijah Ledbetter, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. It was evident in her constant desire to help and care for others as well as her love for singing for the Lord. She was a member of the group, “The Unique Gospel Singers.” She also had a passion for playing the tambourine and cooking, as well as holding family gatherings. Patricia lovingly known as “Pat,” was a straight shooter and was know for her sayings “for real for real” and “like that like that” she will truly be missed by many. Proceeding her in death are: her father, Elijah Ledbetter; her mother, Ella Ledbetter; three brothers, Robert, Elijah, Jr. and Larry; and four sisters, Louise, Mary, Josephine and Diane. She leaves to mourn: her three children, Troy, SGT. Edward, II and Shaneen; eight grandchildren, Bashia, Daryl (Shayonna), Tasha; John, Minx, DaShanè, Jermaine, and Edward, III; two brothers, Edward Ledbetter and Wesley Ledbetter; one aunt, Maggie Patton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins friends and extended family; special mention to, Denise Gibbs Taylor, Francis Gibbs and Michael Gibbs.
