Obituary of Patricia Williamson
Patricia Williamson, A Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, was born on November 9, 1936, in Florence, SC, to Harvey Gaskin Sr. and Viola Cockfield. She passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024, as the heavenly gates opened to welcome her home.
Patricia graduated from Carver High School in 1954 in Lake City, SC, where she was awarded a scholarship for her exceptional typing skills. In 1956, Patricia met the love of her life, Valley Williamson Jr. The two were united in holy matrimony and became one on January 27, 1959, before relocating to Philadelphia, PA in 1960. Their 65 year union was blessed with three wonderful children, Andrew, Francine, and Kevin Williamson. Their love story was one of mutual respect, devotion, and precious memories.
Patricia was baptized at Mount Marian Baptist Church in Scatton, SC, Patricia was a woman of deep faith and dedication. In 1965, Patricia and her family joined Jones Memorial Baptist Church, where she served diligently on the Willing Workers Club. In June 1968, she settled into her home and embraced her community by serving as the Chairperson for the block’s Sunshine Club. Patricia was well-known for her kindness and frequently visited neighbors in times of need. After departing from Memorial Baptist Church, she joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in 1999, where she was an active and faithful member. She served on the Fuel Club, Seniors-On-The-Go, and also loved to participate on the excursion trips.
Patricia had a diverse and fulfilling career, taking great pride in her work. She spent 13 years at Magic Cleaners and 10 years at Rooster Net before dedicating 25 years to the Philadelphia School District as a Food Technician where she retired. She found immense joy in preparing hot meals for children, especially those who were unable to receive a hot meal at home.
Patricia was a woman of remarkable character, integrity, and kindness, whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. A devoted family woman, she always went above and beyond for her loved ones, no matter the circumstance. Her life was rooted in prayer and unwavering faith. She enjoyed traveling on numerous vacations, especially to Las Vegas, as well as cruises. Patricia’s special treats during the holidays brought smiles to many young faces. She was renowned for her culinary skills, delighting family and friends with her delicious candied yams and her famous banana and pineapple puddings. Her dishes were cherished staples at gatherings, bringing warmth and joy to all who were fortunate enough to enjoy them.
As Patricia often said, as she woven together the titles of several of her favorite classic soap operas, "As the World Turns, All My Children, you better Guide your Life, because you only have One Life to Live and you do not want to end up in General Hospital." This quote captures her wisdom, humor, and love for her family and friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by her Beloved Husband, Valley Williamson, Beloved Son, Andrew Williamson, two grandsons Lamont Williamson, and Kevin Williamson Jr, her mother and father, Viola and Harvey, four sisters, Lenzie, Isabella, Tulear, and Elvira, five brothers, Lavern, Harvey Jr., Luke, Charles, and LV. Brother-in-law, Roosevelt, Sister-in-law, Shirley.
Patricia Gaskin Williamson will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and community service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Greene; Four Grandchildren, Venus Smith (Robert Smith), Kenneth Williamson (Sherita Williamson), Bianca Williamson, Alicia Crews (Jermaine Crews); A host of Great Grandchildren, Bria, Zion, Lamont Jr, Semaj, Samir, Mekhi, Landon, Samya, Kylei, Brycen, Braylon, Sy’rai, Skyler, Davone Jr, and Bella; Brother-in-law, Rulee; Sister In-law, Julene; and Two God Grandchildren, Kayla, and Kolby. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
