Obituary of Darcel L Conway

DARCEL LEE CONWAY March 8, 1952 – August 28, 2024 Darcel L. Conway, a cherished sister, aunt, and devoted friend, passed away on August 28, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on March 8, 1952, Darcel’s life was marked by her unwavering faith, compassionate spirit, and dedication to family and community. Darcel was predeceased by her father, Oliver L. Conway; her mother, Margaret J. Conway; and her sisters, Carolyn A. Royster and Denise T. Conway. She is survived by her loving brother, O. Timothy Conway. A proud 1970 graduate of Germantown High School, Darcel furthered her skills through additional work training at Opportunities Industrial Center of Philadelphia. Her career included roles as a clerk at Strawbridge and Clothier and as a school aide with the School District of Philadelphia, where her kindness and dedication made a lasting impact. Darcel’s spiritual journey began at Grace Baptist Church of Germantown under Reverend Doctor Jeremiah A. Wright, Sr. She continued her worship at Mount Airy Church of God in Christ, founded by Bishop Ernest C. Morris Sr., and more recently found community at Next Level Church of Philadelphia, led by Bishop Romaine S. Gibbs. Darcel was known for her deep sense of community. She collected contributions from neighbors to offer expressions of sympathy during times of loss and enjoyed friendly chats with neighbors from her porch. Her love for animals was evident as she lovingly cared for the pets of her neighbors, including their dogs and cats. Darcel also had a keen sense of style, delighting in fashionable clothes and maintaining beautifully coiffed hair. A devoted caregiver, Darcel provided loving support for her mother and cared for her nieces and nephews with selfless dedication. Darcel L. Conway’s legacy of compassion, faith, and community spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Her gentle presence, generous heart, and vibrant personality touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
