Obituary of Vivian N Harmon
Vivian Nikki Harmon ( affectionately) Known as Nikki was born on July 25th 1962 in Philadelphia pa to the late great Pastor Vivian a. Harmon and Harold M. Harmon. One of 9 children (#6) she grew up in a strong household full of Love, laughter and life lessons that would prepare her for life. Nikki accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age(Grandmom wouldn’t have had it any other way) and was educated in the Philadelphia school system. The family moved from south Philadelphia to Germantown when she was a little girl and, that’s where she would meet many of her life long friends. Nikki began to start her own little family in 1980 when she gave birth to her son Carey followed by Jawina in 82 and ending with Jenena in 84. Nikki was already the most loving and caring person already, so Motherhood came naturally and she embraced it, loving them with everything she had in her and them loving her so much more. Nikki loved spending time with her friends and was often the “life of the party “but anytime spent with family was priceless to her. Although she was a good time and liked to have fun she was also a very honest person. If you did something and didn’t want to get caught.. don’t involve Nikki because you was going down, she would not tell a lie! That’s something she made crystal clear to everybody. While being one of the sweetest people you’d meet, she could also be the biggest firecracker if you took her there. Nikki went through trials and tribulations in life as we all do and faced them head on. In 1998 she traded in her “Nik Nik” hat for her NaNa hat that she wore proudly when she had became a Grandmother. She was the best NaNa to her eight grand babies and there was nothing in the world she wouldn’t do for them if it was in her power. They loved to cook and bake with her as well as pickling vegetables. They enjoyed movie dates and dinner dates, but what they loved the most was when they were all together talking, laughing and enjoying each other. NaNa made it her business to be present and celebrate every accomplishment and milestone in their lives. Truly a beautiful bond that could never be broken in life or in death. Nikki was special and respected not just to her children and grands, but to all who knew and loved her. She would do whatever she could if you needed her ( except lie) and would literally give you her last. She would never see anyone hungry and made it her business to feed the birds and cats everyday. She was something like the cat whisperer.
As Nikki began to settle down and become an “old lady” she spent the majority of her time shopping with her best friend Andrea. She went out and bought all kinds of stuff she didn’t need and then fussed at Jim Jim her life long partner for moving or touching it. Nikki also just loved to sit on her front porch and enjoy the company of friends and family who came by to see her. Although it’s so much more I could write about this beautiful soul I’ll just leave it right here. I hope your last memory of her is just as beautiful as mine because it was truly a Honor and a Pleasure.
