Matthew Mabry Jr.

Obituary of Matthew John Mabry Jr.

MATTHEW J. MABRY, is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born at Albert Einstein Hospital on April 12, 1976 to Jeanetta Hines and Matthew Mabry, Sr. Matthew was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and graduated from George Washington High School. Matthew had a strong fellowship with God. Matthew gained employment at Comcast. He also worked at the Helping Hands Agency, where he had the opportunity to do what he loved, help and talk to people. To know Matthew, was to love him. Matthew’s bright personality tells his life story better than any historical account or time lines. “Matt,” as he was affectionately called, was the definition of a family man. He loved spending time with his family, from his grandmothers, mom, sister, brothers and his cousins. You could always catch Matthew at his Grandmom Mabry’s house or at his Mom’s, hanging with his brother, Ameer. Sometimes you would catch him going to the movies with his cousin, Gerald or visiting his Grandmom Hines. Matthew loved when his grandmoms, mom and sister would cook for him. They were the number one ladies in his life. Matthew enjoyed picnics and celebrating holidays, birthdays and special occasions. Most people didn’t know that Matthew was an excellent artist. He loved to draw. He also loved to take pictures of his family and always wanted us to take picture of him. He also enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and talking on the phone with his friends. Matthew also loved to smell good and look good. Loving to dress and shop, you would know him by his many baseball hats and carrying a book bag! Matthew was the most gentle, loving and genuine person you could ever meet. Matthew was a “Gentle Giant,” soft hearted with a smile and personality that would light up any room, when he laughed, he made you laugh. Despite his challenges, trials and tribulations, he never changed from that Gentle Giant. It never changed his character, even when in pain or hurting, he would never let on. Matthew hid his pain, so you wouldn’t hurt for him. He would catch public transportation and travel all over the city, never afraid to venture from one side of the city, to the other. Although, a fearless traveler, Matthew was always afraid to fly in airplanes. Now he is in his shiny, majestic rocket, flying amongst the stars and in the heavens with the rest of the beautiful angels in the sky! God bless you Matthew, we love you and miss you dearly. If we had to define the definition of a good person, or a great man, of how to treat others, it would be Matthew. Matthew was never in any trouble, nor did he cause trouble, talk bad about people, or do anything that would be considered bad. Matthew is a blessing and an angel born unto us, and we celebrate his loving life and his loving ways. Matthew was born sinless and transitioned sinless. Matt transitioned to his next life on April 21, 2015. He leaves to celebrate his life, his loving mother, Jeanetta Hines; father, Matthew Mabry, Sr.; two brothers, Christopher Mabry and Ameer S.T. Hines; two sisters, Fareeda Mabry and Sherrell Mabry; grandmothers, Rosa Lee Mabry and Geneva Hines; uncle, Jimmy Mabry; a close cousin, Gerald Thomas; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
